July 2026 Excursion to Hornsby Library – Celebrating NAIDOC Week

As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, the children from Sunny Daisy Early Learning Centre enjoyed a wonderful excursion to Hornsby Library.

Our adventure began with an exciting train journey from the centre to the library. Travelling on public transport gave children the opportunity to experience the local community, learn about transport safety, practise waiting patiently, and develop confidence in real-life situations.

At the library, the children participated in a special NAIDOC Week Storytime, where they listened to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories, explored Indigenous culture, and learned about the importance of respecting Australia’s First Nations peoples. Through songs, books and interactive activities, the children were encouraged to celebrate diversity, belonging and connection to Country.

Throughout the excursion, children demonstrated curiosity, independence and excellent listening skills. They enjoyed observing the train station, travelling together as a group, and exploring the welcoming library environment.

Excursions like these provide valuable opportunities for children to connect with their local community while extending their learning beyond the classroom. We are proud to create meaningful experiences that inspire children to become confident, capable and respectful learners.

Thank you to our educators and families for supporting another memorable learning adventure!
